2026 TAPPI Aqueous Barrier Coating Course
TAPPI’s Aqueous Barrier Coating Course gives packaging professionals a practical foundation in sustainable barrier coatings for paper and paperboard. Through lectures, discussions and demonstrations, participants will explore coating chemistry, application methods, testing, formulation and performance.
TAPPI’s 2026 Aqueous Barrier Coating Course will take place Oct. 20–22 at the Embassy Suites Atlanta Galleria.
The course is designed for packaging professionals interested in the development and application of aqueous barrier coatings for paper and paperboard. Topics include barrier coating fundamentals, sustainability, substrates, test methods, coating materials and formulations, rheology, application methods, drying and coating defects. The course includes lectures, practical discussions and a testing lab visit.
The course is led by Dr. Prakash Malla and Dr. John Roper and offers 2.0 continuing education units (CEUs).
